Handing it to the next generation — without a leap of faith
Trust that depends on still paying a vendor can't survive a generation. This kind can: the next person in charge (the book calls them the steward) downloads the same public copy, runs the same check, and inherits solid confidence — without you, without the vendor, without anyone's permission.

This is the whole point of proof-instead-of-promises: the trust can be inherited precisely because it rests on something the next steward can confirm themselves, in a future where no vendor relationship is guaranteed to still exist.
Years later · the next steward's first dayready
What this means for you
Because the foundation never changes, trust can be inherited. The next steward runs the same check and stands on the same ground — the handover is a command, not a leap of faith. What this means for you: what you build can outlive you, your vendors, and your company — and still be trusted by whoever comes next, because they can confirm it themselves.
The successor's check is identical to the founder's — that sameness is the inheritance:
Generational Handover
checked bythe next steward, on their own
vendor needednone
the checkidentical to day one
trustinherited by checking, not by faith
Read it, check it, trust it — the same order, one generation later, on the same foundation.
For the technical reader — the command, and how to verify it yourself
# one line · you do not need to run this see walkthrough
./bl-verify # -> the identical seal a successor re-verifies
Full step-by-step is in Appendix RX: Hands-On Demonstrations in the book.
ⓘDeterministic demonstration. The conversation is a faithful dramatization of the exercise; the receipt is the artifact it produces — the same every time, because the system is receipted. (Representative of the demo's structure; the production page renders the captured run.) No output here is fabricated. A live "run it yourself" mode is coming.
